Egypt,Saudi Arabia to construct bridge over Red sea

Egypt and Saudi Arabia is now set to construct a bridge over the Read sea in the next few months after the two countries got into agreement.

The agreement was finalized by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman who is on a 5-day visit to Egypt broke the news about the construction of the bridge over the Red Sea on Friday after a meeting with Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman said that he has come into agreement with his counterpart to construct a world’s class bridge over the red seas that will connect the two countries and enhance trade between the countries.

“This will be one of the historic bridges of our time between the African and the Asian contents as we look into building a concrete relationships between the two countries” he added

Masdar installs solar systems for Morocco rural electrification project

Abu-Dhabi-based Masdar is currently on its second phase of installing solar home systems as part of a project to electrify rural Morocco.

According to officials the project which was include installation of over 20,000 solar systems currently they have installed 9000 and they expect the second phase of the project to be completed on time.

The solar power project is expected to cover over 1000 villages in Morocco and is expected to be completed in a years’ time.

The project wa started a year ago when Masdar and Morocco’s Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable (ONEE) signed a contract for the same.

Kenya’s Mombasa Cement plans to expand their production capacity

Kenya’s Mombasa Cement Limited (MCL) which is one of East Africa’s leading cement producers is planning to spend a whopping US$ 73m on the expansion of the factory’s production capacity.

This initiative which will entail the investment of a new clinker and cement unit was created as a result of East Africa’s construction boom that has begun to pick up.

MCL’s environmental lead expert Philip Omenge confirmed the news and said that the cement manufacturer now has a unit each for clinker and cement and also boasts of an annual output of 1.6 million tonnes. The addition of the new units which will be located at Vipingo in Kilifi County is subject to approval by the National Environment Management Authority (Nema).

East Cape roads in South Africa to be reconstructed

The South African government has announced plans to boost East Cape roads in South Africa in a major reconstruction programme of roads in the country.

This will see the government in the next five years spend millions of dollars in construction and rehabilitation of the road network throughout the Eastern province. Part of this work will spill over into the western province must the bulk of it will be in the eastern province where most of the infrastructure backlogs lies.

In her policy speech delivered in Bhisho, Roads and Public Works MEC Thandiswa Marawu said this investment will turn most of the roads in the province to be one of the best in the country.
