The construction of Ethiopia’s Ankober-Dulecha road has been launched and is expected to streamline the countries transport industry once complete,Ethiopian Road Authority has said. According to the Ethiopian Road Authority the project will see a total of 40 Kilometers and will be cconstructed using the latest concrete asphalt technology. The Ankober-Dulecha road which is expected to link Amhara with Afar state in Ethiopia has begun at a cost of US$38.65m
The property market in Mombasa County is experiencing a major shift, with low cost houses now making their way into the up-market areas of Nyali and Shanzu. Kenya Projects, a property development firm, is putting up low cost houses in Shanzu, with the firm saying that of the 100 units being sold off-plan. 30 have been taken.
Mota-Engil, the African division of Portuguese construction firm has announced that it has signed a deal to build an international airport in Rwanda at a cost of $818-million, the company and government officials said. The construction of thew new Bugesera International Airport was mulled in 2011 when it was first announced that the government was seeking for private sector to design, build, finance, maintain and operate the airport through a 25-year concession.
Nigeria’s Dangote Cement has embarked on a shake-up of Kenya’s cement market with imports of cement from its plant in Ethiopia in preparation for establishment of a local manufacturing plant. Dangote’s entry into the Kenya’s cement market with low-cost cement from Ethiopia is expected to drive prices downward in a market where they have remained static for almost 10 years.
