French firm Dassault has emerged as the lowest bidder for a $10bn (£6.3bn) contract to supply India jet fighters.

Expanding its presence in the US, India's IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has opened a new facility in Silicon Valley, California which was welcomed by US lawmakers and the Californian government.

Samsung Electronics Co (005930.KS) posted a record $4.7 billion quarterly operating profit, driven by booming smartphone sales, and will spend $22 billion this year to boost its production of chips and flat screens to further pull ahead of smaller rivals.
