Ashok Leyland bags $50-million order from Zimbabwe

NEW DELHI: Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland today said it has bagged an order worth $ 50 million (nearly Rs 300 crore) from the Zimbabwe government for the supply of 670 vehicles.

"The company has bagged a contract from the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Government of Zimbabwe, for supply of 670 vehicles valued at approx $ 50 million," Ashok Leyland said in a filing to the BSE.

"The order is planned to be executed in the financial year 2014-15," it added.

In a separate filing, the company said it has merged Ashley Services Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary, with itself.

Ashok Leyland shares today closed at Rs 23.40 apiece on the BSE, up 3.31 per cent from its previous close.
